Spotify NextGen: Cultivating a New Class of Content Creators With Nikole Hannah-Jones
Information
1619: The College Edition is the latest dynamic podcast series to come out of Spotify NextGen, a program designed to inspire the next generation of storytellers and support students at HBCUs interested in pursuing a career in podcasting. Under the direction of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, the 1619 podcast was created by Howard University, who make surprising, compelling and critical connections to the ways that slavery still impacts their lives. This session features Hannah-Jones in conversation with NextGen program lead Kristin Jarrett and Howard student Rachel McCain, discussing their experience producing the 1619 podcast and the importance of amplifying new voices that have historically been underrepresented in the audio industry.
